Dreaming of Water on a Rainy Sunday

Sunday, and it's raining --
and I am also under the weather.
Nothing awful . . . just a case of the ickies.

But now I've got a laptop, which means I can blog pretty much anywhere, even on a sofa with my feet up.
This might get dangerous.

I am hooking on to Chari's Sunday Favorites blog party at Happy To Design,
and also to the The Tablescaper's Seasonal Sundays. There are links at the end of the post.

Back in June '09, I shared some pictures from our family beach house,
out on the North Fork of Long Island.
We had high hopes of getting out there frequently this summer,
but it hasn't worked out like that.
So . . . I look at the pictures and wish I were there.
I hope you enjoy them.

All the pictures are taken from the lawn of the house.

In the shot, below, you can see a boat coming in through the inlet from Peconic Bay.
He is supposed to slow down!
We are on an inlet, called a "creek" out there, that leads right out into Peconic Bay.
Right across the Bay from the North Fork, where we are, lies the Hamptons.
You know, that place where "Royal Pains" takes place.

and. . .

Crossing the Hudson River, from New York City to New Jersey,
on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge (aka "Martha").
Back home. -- Cass

  1. The Martha Washington lower level rang in some memories for me, as so many things can do the older one gets. We got engaged further up the Hudson a bit, our feet dangling over the river from cliffs on high ... and the GWB was in my dorm window view from nursing school in Manhattan ... except one year there was an energy crunch and they turned off most of the lights so it wasn't as pretty a view!

Lovely shots of your beach house and hope you feel well soon!

  7. Love it, please send the rain our way. We haven't had any in about a month. Not to mention we are on our about 22nd day of over 100 degrees. Gotta love - hate Texas in August/September.

  13. So sorry you weren't able to enjoy your summer home. We're on the South Fork, but I too enjoy the North Fork. Long Island is such a beautiful place.

  16. I hope you feel better soon, Cass. Indian Summer is just around the corner, chrysanthemums and painted daisies and baskets of apples at the farm stand - does that help?
